Wellington did some good and some bad in their opening home game of the new season when they squandered a three goal lead to be hanging on for a point in the end against Roman Glass St George last weekend.
Wellington played well in the first half hour as the visitors were not in the game; their keeper Adam Growcott kept them in the game as he denied Alexis Piper, Luke Redrup and others.
Sadly for Wellington the opening goal came about through an error by Jake Viney in goal as he lost posession and a nice curling goal from Scott Hendy resulted and all the pressure that Wellington had exerted was lost.
The second half saw Wellington get the rewards they deserved as two goals from Ollie Chamberlain, one from Alexis Piper and an own goal in ten minutes turned the game on its head completely and the scoreline was of the order it should have been throughout.
However Roman Glass had other ideas and scored three goals of their own - one more from Hendy and two from Paul Cole - with Wellington's defence being carved open too often and in the end Wellington were left hanging on for a point having deserved more.
A home game with Portishead takes place this evening (Wednesday - 7.30pm KO) and a visit to Oldland Abbotonians (Saturday - 3.00pm KO) takes place after that
