Club history was made in our Wildcats girls’ section on Saturday.

For the first time, no fewer than five teams played matches simultaneously.

This is testament to the unrelenting work put in over recent years by head coach John Sellick, supported by his wife Julie and Yvette Waygood – together with an expanding team of managers and coaches – with the aim of making grassroots football available to all in a safe, positive environment.

The U11s (pictured above) put in an amazing performance away to the Pen Mill Vixens at Johnson Park winning 3-0.

In the first half, quickfire goals from the returning Emilia S and constant threat Hetty H gave the Wildcats a 2-0 lead heading into half time.

Pen Mill grew into the game in the second half, threatening to score but a solid defensive effort meant their attacking efforts were in vain.

The game was put to bed when Lola R poked in a Stevie W through ball which capped off a great all-round performance.

The player of-the-match went to Lola R for her passing, awareness and finishing.

The U12s played Watchet at Rockwell Green and the game immediately started like the one a week earlier.

The Wildcats put the opposition under immense pressure with accurate attacking football creating opportunities and denying Watchet time on the ball.

Bella W, Mary H, Amelia S and Summer O found the back of the net to make it 4-0 at half-time.

The second half was more of the same with threats coming from all over the pitch, creating good link up play and creating multiple chances.

Scarlett H and Madeline H-W scored and Bella W added another couple to complete her hat-trick and end the game 8-0, keeping a clean sheet and making it four wins on the bounce.

Player-of-the-match went to Madeline H-W.

The U13s were on the road at Wessex Youth, looking to build on the things learned from both the previous game and midweek training.

Wessex Youth came out of the blocks fast and made most of the running in the first half. Making the most of their chances. it was 5-0 at half time.

Having rejigged the line-up at the interval, the Wildcats came out in the second half and were the better side for most parts, playing as a team.

They created goal scoring chances, winning corners and having a lot of possession. London A, Ruby A and Laylah M worked very hard.

London A scored from a corner and Ruby A ran through to pull another goal back.

The game ended 7-2 which demonstrated that the team can compete with anyone – a positive sign of progress being made.

Players-of-the-match went to Faith D and Gracie L.

The U14s played their home match against Long Ashton at Court Fields on a bright autumnal morning, looking to bounce back after last week.

The first half was played with excellent tempo and use of space creating multiple chances.

Faith NH, making her debut, linked up well and opened the deadlock with a fine finish. With Long Ashton pinned in their half, Emilia S scored twice and Faith added two more to complete a first half hat-trick.

Mckayla H produced another run down the right wing and her shot was deflected in to make it 6-0 at half-time.

The second half was a much more even contest with Long Ashton becoming more attacking and harder to breakdown.

Substitutions were made to give valuable game time to everyone and Emilia S completed her hat-trick to end the game 7-0.

Player-of-the-match went to Jess B in defence – her all-round display and leadership, making sure the team was well organised and working together.

The U16s welcomed Purnell Sports to Court Fields for their first home game of the season.

Having not played for three weeks, the Wildcats were a little rusty in the opening 15 minutes but as their confidence grew, they created chances of their own.

Against the run of play, the physical Purnell side opened the scoring but, not to be denied, the Wildcats equalised almost immediately through Orlaith C, a fantastic piece of individual play down the right wing, calmly slotting past the keeper and making it 1-1 at half time.

The second half was again evenly contested but Purnell gained the lead on the 57th minute.

The Wildcats did their best to respond and created further chances but were not able to make the keeper work.

The game became stretched in the last ten minutes and, despite valiant efforts from the Wildcats, Purnell scored two further goals to end the game 4-1.

Player-of-the-match was captain Milly H.Sa.
