Following a disappointing cup exit last weekend on penalties Wellington Town Under 12s (pictured above) bounced back in style with a 10-1 home win against Staplegrove Youth.

From the first whistle, Town dominated the game, with forwards Felix Emes and Charlie McAlpine both scoring hat-tricks.

Travis Wong and Cass Letten added to the tally while Freddie Andrews and Ryleigh Priddle also found the back of the net.

Despite Staplegrove’s late consolation goal, Town maintained control and completed their biggest win of the season.

The result takes them to second in the U12s Division Two, one point behind leaders Watchet who visit Wellington next in a top-of-the-table clash.

Wellington United U12s team shone in their first away match, only going down a 1-0 defeat by Bridgwater VPR Eagles in the last two minutes of the game.

United dominated the game with plenty of chances on goal and most of the possession pretty much throughout the game but were unfortunately unable to get the finish.

With two minutes to go, Bridgwater VPR sneaked a goal past the keeper, only to then get caught on the break by Wellington with a last 30-second screamer from Blake Mead which bounced off the crossbar to deny them an equaliser.

With that came the final whistle.

Well done to man-of-the-match – chosen by opposition coach – Vinnie Taylor (pictured below) and United’s player-of-the-match, Sonny Rich.

Manager Steve Newstead said: “The boys played really well with some decisions not going our way. Unfortunate, but I’m so proud of all the boys – on we march.”
