After last week’s heartbreaker in the dying seconds, Wellington Town U12s returned to winning ways with a pulsating 6-4 victory away to Staplegrove Youth.
The match started brightly for Wellington, with Felix Emes putting the visitors ahead.
However, Staplegrove hit back with two quick goals to take the lead before Charlie McAlpine levelled the score.
Despite McAlpine’s equaliser, Staplegrove edged the first half, heading into the break 3-2 up.
The second half belonged to Wellington. Freddie Andrews fired in the equaliser, followed by McAlpine’s second of the game to reclaim the lead. Travis Wong and Cass Letten then added further goals to seal the result.
Staplegrove managed a late reply, but it wasn’t enough to deny Wellington their well-earned win which keeps them in second place.
They face a crucial top-of-the-table clash next as they travel to leaders Watchet for what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
