Here’s the weekend round-up from our Wildcats girls’ section.

Wildcats U11s welcomed Pen Mill to Rockwell Green for their penultimate home game of the season.

The game started with both teams battling for possession and Wildcats edged things slightly with Hetty H having a number of chances and being unfortunate to not open the scoring.

Pen Mill utilised their possession they had but found goalkeeper Remi S in fine form.

After the half-time break, Wildcats started to pile on the pressure and It wasn’t long before the ball found Hetty H free to the left of the box to thunder a left-footed shot into the top corner, 1-0.

With the introduction of player-of-the-match Georgie R, Wildcats sustained the pressure and, from a corner, Pen Mill conceded an own goal, 2-0.

Pen Mill came back into the game making a few chances, but resolute defending from Maria G and Esmee J and a tireless performance from captain Summer H retained the deserved clean sheet.

Isla M had a couple of good chances towards the end, but the scoreline remained the same.

The team’s performance was impressive against much-improved opposition and the girls should be very proud of themselves.

Wildcats U13s welcomed Wembdon to the Recreation Ground for their second meeting of the season.

U13s – Anya S with Jason Lockyer.

The first half started well, with the Wildcats creating some good passes to move the ball around the pitch. A quick paced counter though saw them go 1-0 down.

Wildcats’ defence were superb in the following few plays to prevent Wembdon on a couple of occasions but some good football from the visitors saw the game go into the break 4-0.

Player-of-the-day Anya S created some great counter attacks out of defence throughout the game.

After conceding two more well taken Wembdon goals, Wildcats were still eager to close the scoring.

From the restart, the ball was played up to Faith D, who from just outside the box chipped the away keeper to score in the far corner.

This seemed to give Wildcats a spring in their step and Cheyenne C, making a great run from her own half, was unlucky to be stopped by a resilient defence in the box. Full time: 8-1 to Wembdon.

Wildcats U14s played Axbridge at Court Fields in 9 v 9 game due to illness in the away team.

U14s – Isla C with Georgia Purdy.

Looking to hold on to their top of the table position, they found space all over the pitch and hit top gear in the opening couple of minutes, Emilia S breaking free to open the scoring.

Wildcats continued pressing but were unable to create any further telling chances. Axbridge, to their credit, got a foothold into the game and had a couple of good chances but it remained 1-0 at half-time.

The second half saw Wildcats grow in confidence and they started passing the ball more fluently.

Emilia S finished a fantastic run to double the lead and, shortly after, complete her seventh hat-trick of the season to put the game out of reach.

Faith NH then finished calmly to extend the lead and added the final goal of the morning, a free kick on the edge of the area, to complete a 5-0 victory.

Isla C was named player-of-the-match for an outstanding performance as CDM.

The squad continue to work hard for each other, making it eight wins in a row.
