Wildcats U11s got back to winning ways against their local rivals from Bishops Lydeard and avenged the defeat they suffered in their last game against the same opposition.

U11s – Hetty H.

The game started off quite lively with both teams having a fair amount of early possession. A small number of chances fell to both sides in the first half, with the Wildcats going into half-time slightly ahead.

With the last four-five weeks of training being concentrated on dribbling and carrying the ball forward, it was great to see the breakthrough come from two carries out of defence.

Firstly, Maria G took the ball right from her own half nearly to the opposition box before being dispossessed. Lydeard then looked to counter but Maria’s defensive partner Bea D broke up the attack and carried the ball all the way down the right-hand side of the pitch where she eventually made the cross to Hetty H who blasted the ball into the top corner for 1-0.

As the game drew to a close the Wildcats players did start to look pretty fatigued but managed to hold on and took the win 1-0.

A really determined performance from the whole team with notable contributions from Remi S in goal and player-of-the-match Hetty H up front.

After eight weeks off, Wildcats U12s faced a top-of-the-table clash with Wessex Youth.

U12s – Aaron Adams with Tallilah T.

Wildcats came out strongly, with Scarlett H and Darcey S utilising the width of the pitch. After a handball inside the area, Wildcats were unfortunate to not go ahead with the resulting penalty.

The Wildcats continued pressure saw Mary H, Summer O, and Bella W all have chances on goal. HT: 0-0

The second half saw Wildcats with an opportunity to go ahead after Amelia S was fouled in the area, to which Wessex were indebted to their keeper who made a fantastic stop.

Wildcats’ defence of Peyton A, Evelyn S, Emily L and Amelia W were in fine form, preventing a strong Wessex attack.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Wildcats found themselves on the receiving end of a penalty but player-of-the-match, Tallilah T made a superb save to keep a tight game level.

It ended goalless and so the Wildcats remain unbeaten this season.

Wildcats U14s welcomed Middlezoy for their first game of 2025.

U14s – Flo N with Georgia Purdy.

After a thorough pitch inspection, Wildcats hit the ground running with Emilia S opening the scoring and doubling her tally within ten minutes.

Flo N caused a constant threat, utilising her speed and skill to score Wildcats’ third of the game.

Darcy C scored her first of the season after some excellent link up play with her teammates. Shortly before half-time, Emilia S completed a first half hat trick. HT: 5-0

The Wildcats continued applying pressure following their exceptional first half performance, seeing Flo N score her second and Lacey BG, Faith NH and Lola S (two) add to their tally.

Having put in a dominant performance, Wildcats wrapped up the game making it 10 consecutive wins.

Player-of-the-day went to Flo N for her outstanding performance and a mention also to Faith NH for her determination and effort.

Wildcats continued to utilise their teamwork and consistent drive to display a dominant performance – a true testament to the leadership within the squad and their coaching team.

Despite an impressive all-round performance, Wildcats U16s fell to a harsh 5-1 defeat against a strong Bishops Lydeard side,

U16s – Piers Colegate with Jasmine Simmons.

The hosts raced into a 3-0 lead, but Lola Hamlyn pulled one back with an excellent finish, giving Wildcats a foothold in the game.

Julia Rosicka’s dynamic play and Jasmine Simmons’ outstanding goalkeeping kept Wildcats in contention, and the match hung in the balance at 3-1.

Wildcats had two strong penalty appeals waved away, one in each half.

Pushing for a comeback, the team were caught out late, conceding twice. The scoreline flattered Bishops Lydeard in an otherwise competitive encounter.

Jasmine Simmons was awarded player-of-the-match for her excellent display, keeping the Wildcats in the game.
