Stitch2Print Devon & Exeter League premier division: Colyton 1, Wellington Reserves 5
Wellington Reserves followed up last week’ fine win with another excellent away day yesterday (Saturday, January 25th).

Wes Poulsom was our man-of-the-match and he’s pictured with supporter Andy Govier.
The game had to be moved to the 3G pitch at Axminster as the home team’s pitch was flooded and manager Mark Owen had to make a few changes, notably with himself and Connor Noble unable to play.
With Colyton sitting near the top of the league, it was vital the team started well and that’s exactly what they did, taking the lead within the first minute.
The ball was played up to Ben Evett and, as he cut in towards the edge of the box, he hit a shot over the keeper and into the far corner.
It was not long before Wellington doubled the lead, and it came along on ten minutes. After a fine move down the left, Jack Bryant received the ball, and he cut in along the edge of the box before hitting a low shot past the diving keeper into the bottom corner.
With both teams trying to attack at every opportunity, it was now a very open and entertaining game, but Wellington’s defence was outstanding with Sam Bryant and man-of-the-match Wes Poulsom in fine form.
On 30 minutes Colyton pulled a goal back. From a poor pass, the hosts collected the ball and, as it was crossed into the box, Wellington had two chances to clear and as it fell to their No9 on the penalty spot, he turned quickly and hit a shot into the top corner leaving Rob Hall in goal no chance.
Unfortunately, this was Hall’s last involvement in the game because, not long after, he was forced off injured with Tom Hawkings, who was having a fine game in midfield, replacing him in goal.
Just as half-time was approaching, Jack Bryant scored his second and Wellington’s third with a fine shot past the keeper on 44 minutes. Half time: 3-1 to Wellington.
With the second half only five minutes old, Wellington scored a fourth. Jack Bryant had a shot well saved on to the post and, from the resulting corner, his brother Sam headed home from close range.
On the hour, Owen was forced into more changes with both Sam and Jack Bryant forced off as they struggled with injuries on the 3G pitch.
The game was still being played at a fast pace but Wellington always seemed to be in control with Colyton restricted to few chances.
Wellington looked dangerous on the break throughout and a fifth goal game from one of these breaks with Jim Beatty, on as a sub, tapping in from close range after fine work from Luke Perry and Alfie Barrett.
Wellington just needed to keep shape and see out the last 15 minutes and, with Aaron Hawkings breaking down everything in midfield, the game stayed at 5-1 and rounded off a great all-round team performance.
