We are delighted to have been granted permission to construct a new spectator stand at the Playing Field.
We need the structure to be able to carry on playing at the Football Association’s Step 5 which includes the premier division of the Jewson Western League.
The criteria for that level states there must be a covered area for 100 standing spectators.
But a recent ground grading ruled that our existing area, adjoining the clubhouse hall, was only suitable for 50.
The new building alongside will be sited alongside the 100-seat Selwyn Aspin Stand (pictured above) at the northern end of the ground and the work must be completed by the end of March.
We are also in the process of replacing our floodlights, having been given the go-ahead by Somerset Council.
The existing eight pylons will be replaced by four corner-mounted poles.
The new LED floodlights will be more energy efficient and will avoid the club having to remove four of the current pylons (pictured below) every summer to allow cricket to be played.
