Wildcats U11s got back to winning ways with a trip to Martock.

U11s – Lola R.

Playing on a pretty squelchy pitch, the Wildcats came flying out of the blocks, taking control of the game and possession right from the start.

After a few early chances, Wildcats soon went in front with a fierce shot from Hetty H which the Martock goalkeeper couldn’t hold.

Soon after, Hetty doubled her tally after she pinched the ball from the goalkeeper who had fumbled in front of goal.

Not long after the kick-off, a long ball from the Martock defence found Maria G well within her own half. She chose to have a go on the slightly smaller pitch and the ball found its way into the bottom corner – what a goal!

The fourth goal was scored by the ever-industrious Summer H after she dribbled through the defence to slot past the keeper. Wildcats led 4-0 and all within the first 15 minutes.

Martock did come back into the game and started to hold their own but, due to some great work by Georgie R in goal and a huge effort from the girls, the score finished 4-0 to the Wildcats. Player-of-the-match went to Lola R.

Wildcats U13s ended their season at the Rec against a strong Isle of Wedmore team on a cold and wet morning.

U13s – Seren P with Pete Winter.

Due to player availability with Wedmore, a 9v9 game was played which was another new experience for the Wildcats on the full-size pitch.

Playing uphill, the Wildcats started brightly clearing their lines attempting to push towards the Wedmore box.

As the half progressed, Wedmore settled and utilised the available space, particularly down the left wing to cause problems for the Wildcats defence. They scored a couple of superb goals and didn’t relent, making it 5-0 at half-time.

To their credit, the second half saw a keenly spirited Wildcats give everything they had, going down the slope to get back into the game with all players being rotated.

They couldn’t find the finishing touch and the last kick of the game made it 8-0 to Wedmore.

Seren P pipped defenders Georgie L and Anya S to player-of-the-match in what was a determined performance. The girls left the pitch as a team with smiles on their faces and can all be proud of their efforts over the course of the season.

After a tough start to the year where their performances have not matched their results, Wildcats U16s bounced back in empathic style against Pen Mill.

U16s – Lola Hamlyn with Georgia Purdy.

Katie Selley, playing further forward than usual, opened the scoring with a well struck and well placed goal.

Wildcats played some great football, opening up Pen Mill with ease with the keeper making some fine saves. It wasn’t until Lola Hamlyn smashed home after 25 minutes that Wildcats increased their lead.

Further goals came as well as another fantastic save from the Pen Mill keeper from Lauren Newberry’s shot. Hamlyn completed her hat-trick and grabbed a fourth while captain Milly Howe also got on the scoresheet as Wildcats led comfortably at half-time.

Hamlyn added her fifth early in the second half as Wildcats used players in different positions and goals continued to flow. Amy Morrow and Howe both scored second half hat-tricks, Howe’s fourth from outside the box being the pick of the goals.

Julia Rosicka, also playing further forward than usual, was unfortunate to see a number of efforts saved by the keeper, while Florence Self turned in an excellent performance in the centre of midfield during the second half.

Erin Clements scored her first ever goal for Wildcats when she finished an excellent move after being put clear by Self.

Selley completed the rout in the final minute, thumping home from a corner.

Wildcats’ player-of-the-match was Lola Hamlyn and their scorers were Hamlyn (five), Milly Howe (four), Amy Morrow (three), Katie Selley (two) and Erin Clements.
