Somerset County Women’s League division one: Banwell Ladies 3, Wellington Wildcats Ladies 0
Wildcats failed to match the scoring levels of the previous week as their season ended with defeat on the road on Sunday.

Player of the day Georgia Purdy with Steve Crudge.
Wildcats were in the ascendancy for much of the first half, but were unable to turn possession into goals, largely due to the excellence of the Banwell keeper who made several fine stops and was duly named as their player of the match.
At the other end, Wildcats’ defence was as firm as ever, limiting Banwell to just a couple of chances as the game was still level at half-time.
Playing into the wind in the second half, Wildcats made a change in formation. Although this led to more attacking chances, it also left them exposed at the back which Banwell capitalised on to score two one-on-one chances in quick succession.
A late penalty sealed the hosts’ victory, while Jess Regan was unlucky to see her shot superbly saved at full stretch by the Banwell keeper to deny Wildcats a deserved consolation goal at the death.
Despite the loss, the performance of every Wildcats player gives confidence that they will continue to be competitive at the top end of the division next season.
Player of the day, sponsored by Mundy Veneer Ltd, was Georgia Purdy.
Wildcats now look forward to their celebrating their season at their awards evening on Saturday, June 14th.
The players and coaches would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has sponsored and supported them throughout the season and look forward seeing them at the Playing Field in September.
