Our U16s boys looked back over a title winning 2024-25 season at their final presentation evening.
Following a pizza supper, the coaching team of Jonathan Bouchta, Neil Povey and Dave Hicks took players, parents, guardians and supporters through the key results and performances before handing out the end of season awards.
Colin Waller, the club’s Youth Secretary, was also in attendance to present a special award at the conclusion of proceedings
Spirits were high as the squad celebrated a successful campaign which saw them win the HO Soccer Taunton & District Youth League’s second division with 13 wins, one draw and no defeats. Their league cup run saw them knock out division one side Galmington Dragons.
Ed Old was the standout player, scooping two awards, including parents’ and players’ player.
Awards were presented to the following:
- Trainer of the week – Brenly Povey and Luciano Elsmore;
- Most MotM Awards – Ed Old;
- Most Assists – Brenly Povey;
- Impact player – Koby Letten;
- Parents’ player – Ed Old;
- Most Goals – Spencer Thomson;
- Players’ player – Ed Old;
- Coaches’ player – Toby Marke;
- Future ref – Elijah Hiller.
Colin Waller then presented the Wellington AFC’s coveted Most Promising Player award to Spencer Thomson.
The formalities ended with an expression of thanks to parents and guardians for their support, the coaches for their efforts and Hannah Bouchta for keeping the finances in check.
We are looking forward to many of the squad moving up to the U18s and, ultimately, enjoying many years of success in men’s football.
Thanks to the Victoria Arms for providing the venue and The Mole Resort for their sponsorship and support over the past two seasons.
