Our Town U14 boys’ season came to an end with their awards, held at the club.
Leo Mold-Dunn, Town’s reliable centre-back, picked up the most-improved player award, while Zac Foster scooped both the players’ player and supporters’ player of the year award.
Fletcher Langley’s excellent season was rewarded with the manager’s player of the year award.
Town, sponsored by Muller Milk & Ingredients Distribution, kicked off their campaign in Division 2 of the U14 Taunton and District Youth League with a chastening defeat away to Minehead.
Three more early season losses were followed by an excellent 3-0 win over Watchet Town before putting ten past VPR a fortnight later.
And while the team experienced narrow losses to Staplegrove and Tone Youth Wasps in November, the signs of improvement and togetherness were there for everyone to see.
Their 3-1 triumph over Minehead on the final day may have given Wellington only their fourth win of the campaign, but the manner of their victory will give them plenty of belief and optimism as they build towards the start of the new season in September.
Wellington Town U14s would like to thanks Darren Winter, for the past four years as a coach, and his son, Archie.
Darren has decided to step down as coach of the U14s and help the U13s next season where Archie will be playing.
The squad would like to wish Darren and Archie all the best for next season.
