Our United U12 boys wrapped up their season with their presentations at the club last night (Friday, June 13th).

Awards were given to Blake Mead for the golden boot, netting 13 league and cup goals, and Jack Farrington who bagged the players’ player award.

Caleb Jackman-Hughes received the most improved player award and Vinnie Taylor received the manager’s player award for his great effort and attitude all season. He also received the parents’ player award.

All the boys then received a small trophy to celebrate their first year as a team.

Manager Steve Newstead said “A year that has certainly seen the highs and lows of football but ending with some really positive performances, also seeing our team winning the fair play/sportsmanship award for our age group.

“We now move up to 11-a-side football and I feel that, if we take the right attitude into the season, we’re more than capable of achieving good things.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped make the team work this season from running the line to helping pack up after games.

“An extended thankyou to Michelle McDonald for providing refreshments at every home game and, of course, a massive thanks to team coach Richard Upham for all his hard work this season – it really would not be possible without you all.

“I’d also like to thank Joe Conway from Conway Cladding Ltd for providing our kit and sponsoring this season.

“Also, many thanks to Daniel Perry from The Gutter Doctor for providing and sponsoring our team jackets.

“Last but not least I’d like to thank Pizza Palace Wellington for providing our food for the evening – it went down a treat.

“We look forward to the forthcoming season.”
