Our Wanderers U11 boys travelled to Wembdon for their first away fixture of the season and delivered a confident, composed performance which showcased their growing maturity on the pitch.
From the opening whistle, Wellington looked sharp, stringing together passes across the field and forcing Wembdon to chase the game early on. Their movement off the ball created space in key areas, and the pressure soon paid off.
Before the half-time break, Wanderers had carved out a commanding lead. Rex B opened the scoring with a cool finish, followed by Riley L who capitalised on a defensive lapse to double the advantage.
Jude N added a third with a well-taken strike, sending Wellington into the interval with a comfortable lead.
The second half saw a few changes in position, but the quality remained high. Wellington continued to dominate possession and create chances, with their passing game keeping Wembdon pinned back.
Despite the attacking pressure, the Wembdon goalkeeper produced a string of outstanding saves to prevent the scoreline from growing, earning deserved praise for a resilient display.
Every Wellington player contributed to a strong team performance, showing composure, discipline, and a clear understanding of their roles.
It was a promising outing for the young squad, who continue to develop with each match.
A special thank you to Roadchef (shirt sponsor) and R&M Motor (ball sponsor) for their ongoing support of youth football and Wellington U11s.
