The game was very even but Wellington created the better chances as Ben Evett and Ollie Ackland created opportunities from both wings with the forwards just failing to create.

The breakthrough came from a fine cross from Evett and an Ottery defender, under pressure from Luke Perry, knocked it into his own net – half-time 1-0.

The second half could not have started better for Mark Owen’s team as they doubled their advantage.

Ackland chased down a long ball forward and played a ball inside to Evett on the edge of box. He squared to captain Jack Bryant who shot past the keeper from 15 yards.

Ottery got back into the game when a free kick was not cleared and the ball was driving home from ten yards through a crowd of players, leaving keeper Charlie Hawkings with no chance.

Wellington kept to the game plan with Sam Poole and Connor Pengelly outstanding in the centre of midfield.

They restored their two-goal lead with 15 minutes to go as Evett scored a fine goal. Picking the ball up outside the box, he moved it on to his left foot and curled his shot into the top corner.

Wellington just needed to see out the game which they did to stay within two points of leaders Upottery who have a couple of games in hand.
