Our first team had their second wasted journey of the season this afternoon (Saturday, January 10th).

They were due to take on Paulton Rovers in the premier division of the Jewson Western League, with the pitch having passed a morning inspection.

But the match referee arrived and, after looking at the pitch, called the game off ahead of kick-off.

The Tangerines suffered a similar fate in November when they made a fruitless journey into Cornwall to play St Austell.

Today was their third successive postponement because of a frozen pitch – we haven’t played since Boxing Day.

Wellington will be looking to get going again on Wednesday night when they welcome Shepton Mallet to the Carly Press Ground in the Les Phillips Cup, ko 7.45pm.

The winners of the tie will be home to Cheddar next Saturday in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, our Reserves’ home game against East Budleigh this afternoon was also frozen off while the A team lost 5-3 to North Petherton on the 3G pitch at Court Fields School.

Tomorrow, the Wildcats Ladies host Pen Mill at the Carly Press Ground, ko 2pm – weather permitting.
