We were delighted to remember our club stalwart and friend Neil Jenkins, who passed away at the start of the year, at a special match.
Neil gave more than 50 years of devoted service to Wellington AFC, firstly as a player and then as a committee member, helping out in many ways including five years as Membership Secretary and countless stints of voluntary bar work.
The Wellington AFC Veterans took on Wellesley Park Veterans on the Wellington School Astro and ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Neil’s son Richard with a penalty and Terry Coppin.
All proceeds from the event – kindly organised by Jason Hawkings – will go the St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.

With them are, from left, Adrian Gladstone-Smith (Wellesley Park captain), Sallie Jenkins (Shirley and Neil’s daughter) with Grace (Sallie and Neil’s granddaughter) and Richard Jenkins (Shirley and Neil’s son and Wellington captain).
