Stitch2Print Devon and Exeter League division one: Wellington Reserves 3, Teignmouth Town Reserves 2

Our Reserves bounced back at Hemyock FC today with a more cohesive performance to get back to winning ways and stay in the mix for a top three finish.

Man-of-the-match was Luke Perry who is pictured with the team’s kit man Adrian Ridgeway.

Leading scorer Rohan Poulsom opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a neat turn and shot but the lead was short-lived with the visitors capitalising on a defence error to level proceedings six minutes later.

On 39 minutes, Rohan turned provider with a ball inside to his brother Wes who was calm with the goal at his mercy to slide the ball home for a half-time lead.

At the start of the second half, injured keeper Sam Carreau was replaced by Tom Hyam and, 11 minutes later, another error allowed the visitors to get back on level terms.

A change of formation and the introduction of Charlie Purvis and Tom Scarlett paid dividends as the Tangerines built a period of sustained pressure with the front two of Aaron Merry and Rohan threatening for the winner.

The central midfield duo of man-of-the match Luke Perry and under 18s player Josh Sibanda were instrumental in all that was positive with another piece of skill and endeavour resulting in Rohan clinically sealing the win in the 86th minute.

Hyam made a smart instinctive save in the closing stages to ensure all three points were secured.

A much-improved team performance on a difficult playing surface now leads to the next game against champions-elect Winkleigh at the Playing Field on April 22nd.
