Our thriving Disability section held their presentation night at the club to mark a brilliant season which saw both the first team and development team winning their leagues.

The section – run by Jason Fox (manager and head coach) – has three inclusive disability teams who like to have fun at training and in matches.

If you would like to join – whatever your ability – contact Jason by emailing foxy.10@live.com or calling 07477 100529.

REVIEW OF THE SEASON BY JASON FOX

The First Team had a very successful year, winning their league title at the Somerset Ability Counts Tournament.

We have also taken part in mini Tournaments at Braunton in North Devon and in Bridgwater where we have played against teams from all over the south of England.

I would like to say a big thank you to Jack Milton who has been team captain for a number of years and is now stepping down to concentrate on pastures new.

The First Team have really come together this season as a team and have been playing some wonderful football especially at the tournaments and a big thank you also to Dale Harraway who has coached the team and led them to another league title.

We train in the summer on a Monday evening at Hamilton Park in Taunton from 6.30pm to 8pm and during the winter at The Castle School in Taunton from 7pm to 8pm.

The Development Team have also had a brilliant season winning their division at the Somerset Ability Counts League.

They had to fight very hard to win it – at the last tournament in June they had to win all five games which they did with some fantastic goals and team play.

They have also been taking part in mini tournaments on a Saturday morning in Bridgwater playing teams from all over the south of England which has been a great experience for everyone involved and lots of fun too.

A big thank you to Paul Short and Brian Beck for all their hard work throughout the season – I couldn’t have done it without you.

We train in the summer on a Monday evening at Hamilton Park in Taunton from 6.30pm to 8pm and in the winter at The Castle School in Taunton from 7pm to 8pm.

The Youth Team has been running since March 2022 and has now grown to almost 15 players of all ages and abilities from eight years and up.

They took part in their first match day back in January at Braunton in North Devon. It was an extremely cold day but it was a great afternoon of football with lots of fun and everyone got a medal.

We have since played a home fixture with Braunton and recently played in a small tournament with Braunton and Saturday Afternoon Soccer (SAS) in Bideford plus a disability day in Bridgwater in April.

We plan to have more fixtures in the coming season with teams from Devon and Somerset.

A big thank you to Zoe Reed who has stepped up and is now about to start her coaching journey and be my assistant coach for the youth team.

We train in the summer on a Wednesday evening at Hamilton Park in Taunton from 5.30pm to about 7pm and through the winter at Bishop Fox’s School in their Sports Hall from 6pm to 7pm.
