Somerset County Women’s League division two: Crewkerne Rangers Ladies 0, Wellington Ladies 2

Our Ladies went in search of a better result away at Crewkerne after heavy defeats in their opening two games.

The team was brilliant from start to finish in the first half, with Charlotte, Zoë and Nyima soaking up early pressure in defence and staying very well organised.

Adele, Josie, Chloe, and Tash linked up well in attack and it was the latter who slotted in a wonder strike from outside of the box shortly before half time. The Ladies went in at the break 1-0 up with something to defend.

The second half was more open, and injuries meant Wellington often a player down.

However, the injured Morgan took one for the team and went in goal, allowing Sheldon to come back out to midfield, even though she had never played the position before.

Despite this, they were solid in defence and had a real team spirit not yet seen before from this side.

Another wonder goal from 20 yards by Sheldon, assisted by Adele, sealed the win.

A massive performance from this team, who have been struggling for players after a mass exodus from last season.

A thoroughly deserved win and on to next week!

The Ladies are still looking for players for the season to build numbers into the squad so, if you 16+ and would like to give it a go, please get in touch.
