Somerset County Women’s League division two south: Wellington Ladies 0, Pen Mill Ladies Reserves 6
Our Ladies fought hard throughout their defeat by a well organised Pen Mill at the Playing Field.
They approached the game with fortitude and courage despite playing 8v9 for the second time in three weeks.
Wellington gave a solid defensive display in the first half which saw Pen Mill struggle to get their first goal until the 22-minute mark.
The Tangerines continued to work hard and press at every opportunity but, just before half-time Pen Mill made it 2-0.
As the temperature continued to drop, both teams headed into the changing rooms to regroup.
Wellington came out for the second half showing they were there as a team, playing for each other and pushing their bodies to the limit for the club.
New signing Chloe Carpenter who made her debut in the back line and made it very difficult for the opposition’s winger to gain ground.
The scoreline does not reflect the endless efforts and determination shown by Wellington.
Jake and Nyima were very proud of all the players and humbled by their sincere dedication to the team.
Player-of-the-match went to Adele Bamford for her outstanding performance and the effective pressure she put on the opposition.
On Sunday, the Ladies are away to Porlock, kick-off 2pm.
