We are delighted to announce that highly rated keeper Jake Viney has rejoined the club.
He will replace Shay Allen who has moved to our Toolstation premier rivals Nailsea and Tickenham.
Jake, 30, left Bridgwater United – also in the Toolstation premier – before Christmas having played more than 300 games for them over eight years.
Prior to that, he spent two-and-a-half years with us, having been signed by our then manager Jamie Ward in January, 2013.
Jake, who has played for Dorchester Town since leaving Bridgwater, said: “I started my adult football with Wellington and am excited to be returning.
“It feels like I’ve never been away and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.”
Our assistant player-coach Jack Bown-Porter said: “Jake’s a top guy – on and off the pitch – whose CV speaks for itself.
“We know exactly what we’re getting with Jake and he’s champing at the bit to get back!”
Jack also had a message for the departing Shay Allen.
“He’s a top young talent, who will go on to have many more seasons at this level and above, I’m sure.
“We can’t thank him enough for what he’s given Wellington, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Jake goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s important home game v Oldland Abbotonians at the Playing Field.
