Wellington AFC U9s travelled across the Devon border to play Cullompton at Culm Valley Sports Centre this morning (Saturday, March 30th), writes John Norman.

It didn’t take long for the visitors to get used to the Astro, playing some lovely passing football all around the pitch, from the keeper to the strikers.

The young Tangerines started strongly, keeping the ball for the vast majority of the time. However, the elusive goal took a little while in coming.

Wellington didn’t panic and continued to push the ball around to create spaces and chances. Once the goal came, the floodgates opened.

A big difference was the strength in depth Wellington showed with all ten players comfortable on the ball and playing their role in the team performance.

Wellington finished the game winning 11-0 – the goalscorers were Rex Beatty (four), Jack Jorge (three), Louis Molloy (two), Logan Thorpe and an own goal.

There were some standout moments from a fantastic team performance however special mention should go to Jack Jorge for scoring a superbly executed overhead kick.

A big thank you to Roadchef (kit sponsor) and R&M Motors (jacket sponsor).

Well done, boys, you continue to shine and play great football.

The squad are now looking forward to taking on Exeter City U9s on April 9th.
