Our U8s took the field after the club’s U9s on cup finals day at chilly Minehead.
The Tigers started extremely slowly and allowed Galmington to score an early goal but this sparked the boys into life as Jai Gibson-Patel nearly equalised with a thunderous effort which crashed back off the bar.
It was clearly a sign of things to come as Tigers tried to find their way back into the game but did not get that bit of luck they deserved and were undone again by a deflected cross which rolled into the net.
Galmington went on to score a third as Wellington threw everything at them to get back into the game.
The third and fourth playoff game was against Middlezoy which the Tigers started really well with Tom Knight finishing off a great move.
The Tigers were finally purring but could not find a second – instead Middlezoy luckily scored an mis-hit cross which somehow looped over the keeper.
The Tigers continued to push for a second and were undone by a swift counter by Middlezoy.
The Tigers nearly equalised in the dying seconds as Jai controlled a big goal kick by stand-in keeper Lincoln Osborne somehow keeping it in and playing a perfect cross to Tom Knight who agonisingly put it just wide of the post.
Wellington U8s would like say a big thank you to their sponsors Howdens Wellington and Castle Holiday Parks.
Better luck next time, boys.
