Our U16s made club history as they completed a wonderful league and cup double yesterday (Sunday, May 5th).

The squad, managed by Wayne Oaten, had already won their age group in the Taunton and District Youth League.

They then suffered an agonising 1-0 league cup final defeat by Staplegrove Saints.

But they bounced back in style at Middlezoy Rovers yesterday, beating Burnham United 4-0 to lift the Somerset FA Youth Shield and become the first Wellington of youth sides to win their county competition.

The lads built up a 3-0 lead by half-time and added a further goal after the break. Joe Robinson led the way with a hat-trick while the other goal came from Harry Jones.

“The whole team played really well,” said Wayne afterwards. “They dominated the game for a well-deserved victory to become history makers.”
