Our U9s celebrated a great season with their presentations in the clubhouse yesterday (Sunday, May 26th).
Manager John Norman said: “What a season it’s been for the young Wellington FC boys!
“From start to finish, these players have shown incredible skill, determination, and sportsmanship, making us all incredibly proud to be a part of this club.
“First, a massive thank you to our wonderful sponsors Roadchef and R&M Motors for their support throughout the year.
“And to our amazing parents – your dedication in travelling all over the place, providing delicious match-day teas and coffees, and diving in to help with bar duties and other tasks is truly what makes this club feel like a family.
“The unwavering support from our wives and girlfriends, braving the elements to cheer on the boys, is also so appreciated.
“To the players themselves – you have all been an absolute joy to coach. Your commitment to training, your openness to learning new skills, and your positive, resilient attitudes have been inspirational.
“You are the future of Wellington FC and we can’t wait to see how you continue to develop.
“Over the course of the season, the team participated in 59 training sessions and 33 matches, scoring an incredible 319 goals!
“Eighteen different players found the back of the net, showcasing the depth of talent in this squad.
“Qualifying for the cup competition finals was a particular highlight, with the team scoring 32 goals and conceding just two in the two rounds. Although they ultimately came up short in the semi-final on penalties, the performance was testament to how far this team have come.
“We look ahead to next season, with the core values of positivity, resilience, respect, and determination which have defined this season – there’s no doubt this team is ready to take it on.
“Congratulations to our award winners: 100 goal club members Jack Jorge and Rex Beatty, as well as those honoured for Positivity (Fraser May), Resilience (Logan Thorpe), Respect (Harrison Thompson), Determination (Rex Beatty), Top Scorer (Jack Jorge with 83 goals!), Most Improved (Ozzy Moore), Magic Moment (Omeiza Zutu Onozutu and Sarah Thompson), Manager’s Player (George Learmonth and Jack Jorge), Supporters Player (Jude Norman), and Players’ Player (Tom Kennan and Rex Beatty).
