There was a positive feel to the squad ahead of kick-off, with recent signing Tilly W coming straight into the starting line-up, while Emily Ayers and Chloe Payne both returned to the squad following long-term injuries.

Alicia B was also included for the first time, adding further energy and anticipation to the day.

The opening quarter was evenly contested, with Frome looking to exploit the wide areas.

Wildcats’ fullbacks Grayson Kennard and Erin C remained alert throughout, dealing well with the threat and ensuring the visitors were kept at bay.

As the game settled, Wildcats began to find their rhythm, with Leah Morrell’s pace causing increasing problems for the Frome defence, although she was well matched by her opposite number.

Alongside her, Jayda S-H worked superbly in tandem, linking play intelligently and supporting the attacking threat.

The breakthrough came following a sharp attacking move. Morrell combined brilliantly with Robyn Stockman in a quick one-two, allowing Stockman to slip through and toe poke the ball under the keeper to give Wildcats a deserved 1-0 lead at the break.

Defensively, Wildcats showed resilience and organisation. Goalkeeper Bianca Hamlyn produced an excellent save from a dangerous corner, while her communication and a well-timed intervention alongside captain Grace Winter helped deny Frome a clear opportunity.

With the slope in their favour in the second half, Wildcats stepped up another level.

Alicia B was introduced and made an immediate impact on her debut, using her pace and vision to great effect and providing a new attacking dimension.

Wildcats doubled their lead through Morrell, who calmly finished after a well-worked move built patiently from the back.

The midfield trio of Milly H, Georgia Purdy and Charlotte Ayers were outstanding throughout, controlling possession and linking play effectively between defence and attack.

The third goal arrived as Kennard delivered an excellent cross into the box, met powerfully by Morrell, who headed home to secure the victory.

It was a strong all-round performance, blending defensive solidity with attacking quality.

Player of the Match was awarded to Alicia B for an exceptional debut, rounding off a memorable day as Wildcats Ladies closed this season at the Carly Press Ground on a high.
