Devon and Exeter division one: Wellington Reserves 0, Hatherleigh 0
Relegation-threatened Wellington Reserves played out a hard-fought scoreless home draw against promotion-chasing Hatherleigh at the Playing Field on Saturday, January 12th.
In a game with few clearcut chances, Wellington were clearly the stronger and more progressive side.
The best openings of the game came to Wellington in the second period. A Josh Baker header was hooked off the line, after good work by Joe Wylie.
Baker also mis-cued a great pull back from Wylie again before shooting wide. Wellington did have the ball in the net with 15 remaining, but it was disallowed for a very dubious foul on the travelling keeper.
This result gives Wellington something to build on, but they will need to be much better in the final third of the pitch. Shooting and creating will be high on the training agenda this week.
