Taunton Saturday League: Staplegrove Crusaders 6, Wellington A 1

Welly A turned up to this game with a bare 12 players due to injuries, drop outs and the reserves needing a couple.

Staplegrove took lead but Wellington drew level when Brad Holmans jinxed through and passes inside for Liam Thorne to net

Another through ball for Staplegrove cooly made it 2-1, a long ball over the top increased their lead and a clever cross ball made thins worst before another goal made it 5-1 at half-time.

A change in formation to 5-3-2 saw Welly come out much better and, for 15 minutes, gthey were the better side without creating any decent opportunities. Staplegrove started to take back control of the game but Welly carved out opportunities with Ash Bright just failing to get on the end of one and Nigel Letten hitting the bar.

A long ball from Staplegrove and a mix-up at the back saw keeper Jared Holder out of his area and Grove scored to make it 6-1 with the rest of the game a close hard battle in the middle of the park and a great save from Holder.

Welly are back under the lights at the Playing Field on Wednesday night v Norton Fitzwarren, ko 7.30pm
