Huge congratulations to our former youth player Max Edgecombe, who has signed his first professional contract with League One club Exeter City.

Max is a 17-year-old player with the club’s academy and his favoured position is on the left side of defence.

He played a season with our under eights before going to Exeter City, then had a break and played for us again at under 11s and 12s – winning the league with the under 12s – before going back to Exeter.

Max, who went to Court Fields School, said: “This is a really proud moment for me and my family and I’m really pleased.

“Every coach has had a massive part in my journey so far, and my development, having been here since I was eight.

“There is so much they have helped me with, not just becoming a better player on the pitch but a better person as well.”

Brad Miller, Head of Coaching and Player Development, added: “Max is a first year scholar and a fantastic young man.

“He works incredibly hard on his game, is enthusiastic, and has a lot of potential.

“He is very very good and his left foot is outstanding, and we are delighted that he has committed his future with us.

“I feel he has all the attributes to succeed at this football club and beyond.”

Proud dad, Mark – a former youth team manager in our club – said: “We are all very proud of Max and what he has achieved and we’re looking forward to the next step in his football career.”

A spokesperson for Court Fields added: “Many congratulations Max, a huge achievement!”
