We are delighted to announce that our facilities at the Playing Field have passed their Step 5 grading following an FA inspection yesterday (Monday, March 31st).

Clubs must adhere to strict criteria for each level of the football pyramid system.

The successful grading means our first team can definitely continue playing in the premier division of the Jewson Western League – having secured their survival by beating Welton Rovers on Saturday.

Work to meet the required grading has included the construction of a new spectator stand and additional signage.

Our chairman Mike Hall said: “This is great news for the club.

“A huge thank-you to everyone who has helped us achieve the grading again – and particularly to Jeff Brown for heading up the project.

“We are now planning further improvements to our facilities at the Playing Field.

“New floodlights are being installed in August, the footpath along the clubhouse side is being re-laid and we are looking to install a new perimeter fence around the pitch.”

Mike added: “These are exciting times time for Wellington AFC but none of it happens without a huge amount of effort by our dedicated team of volunteers.

“We’re also looking forward to working with Wellington Town Council who have today taken over responsibility for the Playing Field from Somerset Council.”
