Wellington AFC made a 200-mile round trip to Cornwall today (Saturday, November 29th) without kicking a ball.
They travelled to St Austell, only for the game in the premier division of the Jewson Western League to be called off before it started.
The referee inspected the pitch and decided that it was unplayable, particularly in the two goalmouths.
The match will now be replayed on a date to be fixed.
Next up for the Tangerines is a local derby at home to Bridgwater United on Wednesday, ko 7.45pm.
There was better news for the club’s Reserves who recorded a fine 7-1 win at home to Sidmouth Town 2nds thanks to a Ben Evett hat-trick, Jack Bryant (two), Sam Bryant and Ollie Nott.
