Our U9 boys rounded off a memorable season with their annual presentations, celebrating a year of outstanding progress, teamwork and enjoyment both on and off the pitch.

The coaching team of Gary, Pete, Dave L, Ross, Tony and Dave B reflected with great pride on the development shown by every player throughout the season.

As well as improving their footballing composure and individual skill set, the boys have built lasting friendships and shown fantastic commitment, enthusiasm and sportsmanship this year!

One of the highlights of the season came earlier in the year when Wellington hosted their own home tournament.

The event attracted a record entry of more than 16 teams, creating a fantastic day of football and showcasing the strength of grassroots football in the local community.

This season, Wellington U9s have been delighted to provide playing opportunities for 28 young footballers from the area. Equal game time, player development and enjoyment have remained the team’s core values throughout the year.

The presentation evening also provided an opportunity to thank the many people whose support has helped make the season such a success.

Special thanks were given to Sarah Parsons of SJ Accounting and Tim Potter Family Butchers for their valued sponsorship.

Recognition was also given to Chloe and Nicole for their fantastic work running refreshments on match days, Heather and Esther for their excellent efforts organising the club’s successful end of season raffle, Stephen for capturing so many memorable moments with his photography, Jon for supplying the presentation certificates, and Nerijus of NB Construction for generously sponsoring the referees at the home tournament.

Looking ahead, the squad excited to expand to three teams at U10 level next season, providing even more opportunities for young players to enjoy the game and continue their development.

Team Manager Gary Hart said: “I’d like to personally thank our fantastic coaching team.

“It’s been a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated group who have made every training session challenging, purposeful and enjoyable, come rain or shine.

“The commitment shown by every coach has played a huge part in creating such a positive environment for the boys to learn, improve and make lifelong friendships.”

“We’re incredibly proud of every one of our players and everything they’ve achieved this season.

“We can’t wait to see what next season brings as we begin our journey together as U10s.”
