Taunton Saturday League, Wellington A 3, Minehead Colts 1
Our A team stuck to the same formation – with ten of the 11 players who saw off Castlemoat – for this game under the Playing Field lights.
Welly started strongly and totally dominated the first half with some good passing football in patches.Goals from Ash Bright and Oli Ghazala, pouncing on a mistake and a rebound, put Welly 2-0 up. Minehead, looking for the long ball to their right winger every time, stopped them getting any sort of momentum.
The second half started similarly but player-boss Luke O’Hara’s corner found Nige Letten who hit it first-time on the volley to make it 3-0 – his first goal of the season had finally arrived.
This seemed to wake up the young Minehead side up, who then started to grow into the game and take control. They managed to score around the 75th minute and, from then, on it was an even final 15 minutes in which neither side really created any proper goalscoring opportunities.
