A desperately sad day for our club as we report the passing of Mick Gough, one of our greatest ever players. He was 70.
‘Goughy’ terrorised defences from his first-team debut as a teenager in the mid-60s back in our Somerset Senior League days, then into the 70s and early 80s, including our step up into the Toolstation Western League.
He remained loyal to his home town club after his playing days, both as a committee member and a skittler for Soccerites.
A brilliant all-round sportsman, Mick was most importantly a wonderful character and great friend to many of us.
He will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with his sons Kal and Shaun.
We will be holding a minute’s applause to remember a true Wellington legend ahead of Wednesday’s home game v Bridgwater Town FC.
