Somerset County Women‘s League: Wellington 9, Pen Mill Reserves 4
Our Ladies once again produced an impressive attacking display to beat Pen Mill Reserves in a thrilling encounter.
With Pen Mill penned in their own half for much of the first 45 minutes, Wellington took their chances well and went in at the break 4-1 up. Leah Morrell continued her goal-scoring form, and was once again the stand-out performer, bagging another hat-trick.
The second half was a much more even affair, although Pen Mill never really looked like getting back into the game as they continued to ship goals. Maxine Pontin (two) scored the pick of the goals, finishing high into the net after a strong solo run. Jess Regan also scored a stunner from the edge of the 18-yard box.
The other scorers for Wellington were Sheldon Hancock, Natasha Hole and Ebony Sellick as they moved up to third in the table with eight points from four games, remaining unbeaten.
On Sunday, the Ladies face a trip to table-toppers Stockwood Wanderers who will no doubt prove a much sterner test.
